One Moment in Time

(I wrote this poem a long time ago, when I was absorbed in listening to the beautiful violin compositions of J.S.Bach. It's title is a tribute to a song by Bach of the same name. Somehow, music and poetry are inseparable in my mind... they stir my soul equally, and they are more expressive than a thousand lines of prose...)

In all of our memories,
There lies one special moment-
One moment in time
That lasts forever.

For some, it is their first kiss;
For some, their graduation;
For some, the birth of their child;
Everyone has their own special event.

One moment in time
That you can remember
As clearly as though
It happened only yesterday.

One moment in time
When every little detail
Every expression you saw
Remains indelibly branded.

One moment in time
When the emotions you felt
Return to fill your senses
Every time you think about it.

Every one of us
Has a special memory,
One moment in time
That lasts forever.

Oh lovely poem Prashanth..but I'd be very unfair if I'd say I've had just one special moment..
On playin Beethoven's Rondo in A maj without a single slip-up,the moment I finish the last note(comin home in muscial terminology) becomes very special to me.Similarly there are scores of others..when I got the much coveted captain-badge for the first time in primary class(eventually somethin tht I ran away from in high school),when I got the first prize in the Recitation Competition for the first time in class 2 n well some bad memories too..
..the first time I was slapped by my teacher in my KG n much later,not makin it to IIT which still rankles..
But back to the best,I shall always cherish the moment when I was asked by the Trinity Examiner to play Edward Elgar's Griffinesque(Grade 5-Group A-exam piece)again for him..
..n many many more..the list is endless!!
Sorry..couldn't put it in the poetic form..(tired after back from coll which's 50 kms away!!)

Wow... you've had an eventful life Niya! And yes, I don't mean to say that everyone has only one such moment, I'm saying that everyone has at least one moment.

You don't have to put everything in poetic form :). There is beauty in simplicity, too.
